Bring on the Westy
Netley Royals rocked into Testwood School on the back of a 10-0 away win to Hedge End last week to play a much improved Pace Pumas.
With only eleven players to choose from the team was sent out with the same message as last week-- Possession is the key. Keep the ball, pass, move and work hard as a team. Don't give the opponents anytime to settle.
Football is a simple game when things go your way and sometimes you get lucky. I've always beleived that you make your own luck with hard work and that's what the lads did today. Our 2nd goal came from their keeper making a mistake but, the build up to the goal was no fluke with Blade picking up a lose pass and running at their defence and letting fly with a powerfull shot that their keeper didn't save. Lucky goal, no chance, great goal.
The first half started from where we left off last week. Good attacking play and 3 half chances in the first 10 mins. Pace then started to get hold of the ball and pushed us back and opened up the game.
With the game flowing from one end to the other we started to open them up on the right side of the pitch and a great cross found it's way to Jack who slid in to score. 0-1, 21 mins
Again a number of chances were missed by us before the moment came that changed the game. With us pushing up to score a 2nd, Pace broke with three against two down the right side and hit a low powerful shot. No problem, we have got Westy. He came charging off his line and dived full length to pull off an incredible save on the stroke of half time.
Pace Pumas 0 - 1 Netley Royals
Second half saw us start strongley and take the game to them. We created chance after chance but could not score. Then Blade got the second after 16 mins and we took control of the game.
Sam Brickwood scored a well deserved goal for 0-3 and Sam Birch showed some class with 2 great goals.
Final score Pace:- Pumas 0 - 5 Netley Royals
Well done to all the boys again. With Pace playing some nice football with a bit spice to their game we came out on top on more fronts than one.
Only one league game left and it would be a lovely way to end the season with a win against St Denys.
