Big Hearts on Valentines Day
It was third time lucky against Hedge End Rangers B at the Norman Rodway Sports Ground after the game had been called off thre times due to the weather conditions.
On what was a full size pitch Netley soon set the tone of the game with some lovely pass and movement.
10 mins into the game Jack, starting to capture the form he had at the beginning of the season, got on the end of cross to open the scoring.
15 mins played and Aiden opened up the defence and scored our 2nd.
17 mins and Jack slotted away the 3rd.
20 mins and Sam Brickwood scored the fourth of the day.
Half Time:- Hedge End 0 - 4 Netley Royals
With the cold wind and rain coming down the second half started and we carried on were we left off in the first, keeping possession of the ball and forcing Hedge End back towards their own goal.
40 mins played and Aiden showed a touch of class and scored our 5th
42 mins and Matt Smith cut in from the left and scored to the biggest cheer of the day for our 6th
45 mins played a Sam Birch took control in a crowded penalty area to calmly score our 7th
49 mins into the game and Liam Culshaw struck a powerfull shot low into the far corner of the goal that hit a defender on the goal line. ( Liam's goal ) 8 - 0
55 mins and it was 9 - 0. Liam Culshaw controlled the ball wide on the penalty area and then curled it to score our 10th and my favourite of the day.
Final Score :- Hedge End Rangers B 0 - 10 Netley Royals
This was a great performance by us today and a good game to watch. Hedge Ends keeper had kept them in the game in the first 20 mins with some brilliant saves and when he got injured and had to go off we streched them untill they just went backwards. On a big pitch it is important to keep the ball so you don't have to chase it around. We have been trying to teach the boys about short passing as much as knocking the ball long all the time. Next season we will have to adjust to playing on pitches like this every week and if keep trying to play the same stlye we are going to be good team to watch each week.
Some really good performances today but I would like to say well done to Westy. He had to keep his concentration all game and never had one save to make. He must have been freezing.
